Ok, i like that my cat kills mice, moles, and the occassional rabbit, but how do i get her to stop leaving the half eaten remains on the porch. This week I've had of 2 birds, 1 chipmunk minus a leg 1 mole 1 rabbit minus the head and the stomach of something I could not identify.

I'm greatful if she's trying to feed me or give me gifts, but eeww!

When I had a cat that did that, I would fuss at her and get rid of it while she was watching. She did stop, but I probably hurt her feelings!

She would come to the door with the gift in her mouth and meow (sort of) to come in. If I didn't pay attention, she'd bring it in the house.)

aww! she luvs you!

I have 3 cats that just love to bring me prizes every morning.
Nothing you can do about it.. really.
The ones they bring and not injured I take away and set them free. Remains are for the yard to fertilize. They have the a habbit of leaving them on my black floormat in front of the french doors. Ever step on mouse guts with your bare feet ?
I think the worst thing is hearting the chipmunks or babyrabbits squeal.Cant stand that.
Also.. if they eat any rodents , birds etc.. they will have worms. Most , if not all of them carry parasites , cats digest rodents and ingest eggs ,larva etc.. If the rodents just have one flea.. fleas carry parasites also. You cant totaly avoid them having worms but keeping the worms to a minimum is worth the money

Short story..
Years ago we lived in a rented older house while we build the new one.
In our bedroom we had a waterbed with drawers underneath it.I stored all my lines, bedding etc in those.

One day I noticed an odd smell in the bedroom.I thought , well the house is old ( 60`s) and we had a leaky roof where the ceiling was beeing replaced as it leaked into the bedroom. So I thought it was that.
After a few days it got really bad. I followed the smell and noticed it beeing stronger under the bed.

I made my husabnd crawl under the bed and ewwwh.,.. The cat had brought in a rabbit, ate half of it and the rest was rotting in one of the drawers.Full of maggots and stuff.
Bed went out that same day. carpet cleaned and I slept on the couch for a few weeks until we got new bedroom suite.

It was horrid.

Yeah, I guess that would be worse than having it on the front porch.

and yes, I have stepped on the dead stuff barefoot. the worst was the feeling of a tiny skull popping on a mole, I guess I was lucky that was the only part there. lol

I got a chewed up mouse place neatly between my shoes in the kitchen saturday morning. I hate that cat.

My cat liked frog legs. We had a cat flap to keep from going mad with letting them in and out and in and out and in and out....
Kitty brought in all sorts of treats. Small snakes, furry critters, and frogs. He'd eat the legs and leave the rest of the frog for us.

Mine just ate half a cotton tailed rabbit and left the rest for me to admire. We often get gut piles and remains in the house. What I don't much care for are the live rats and bats they bring in. I guess they don't think I can hunt the way they do. They keep trying to get me to hunt.

i leavemy patio door open... my cats won't use a litterbox so they can go outside.... My cat brings me all kinds of dead critters... One day there was a dead cardinal on my cabinet right next to the microwave... I could just strangle her(not really) it is so gross.... good thing I love her

Read a great book at the vet last week, called something like "Why do cats do this?" They also had one for dogs and one for horses.
I always assumed they were "gifts" too, but the book said that's how a mama cat begins to train her kittens to hunt - by bringing them dead things. The book said when the cat brings you dead things it's trying to teach you to hunt too. It also mentioned that most cats love us even though we're too stupid to learn this.
