Death by Dustbathing

I had another hen pass away this week just two weeks after the first one.

Her name was Rosa, she was a sweetie, she died in a freak accident I was so sad and angry to find her because it was so senseless as to how and why it happened.

she was dustbathing and got herself tangles in the roots in a weird way, you know how they move themselves while bathing? well she got her self tangles up it looks like it was strangulation she must of dug up the root while digging around
 
I'm sorry to hear this it seems like a waste of such a beautiful life. I have encouraged my chickens to dust bathe away from the fence because I was afraid one might get tangled up, though I never have actually heard of it happening till now. I dumped a big pile of sand in the middle of my run for mine to dust bathe and they love it, although they end up eating a lot of it as grit. maybe you might want to try this or try blocking this spot to prevent this occurrence again? good luck
