Hatching takes a tremendous amount of energy. It is normal for the chick to collapse for a while right after it hatches. The one that started pipping has half come out of its shell, its legs are still inside the shell. It is laying on its side and is flapping its wings (sort of anyway). It still has its eyes closed, is this normal? How long will it be until it starts walking around?
