So clearly there is no SOP for Deathlayers. Google didn't turn up much of anything either. If you were interested in a breed that doesn't have a SOP, how do you even begin to work towards creating one?
Would I base it off SOP of similar looking breeds, such as campines or hamburgs? Or...?
Does anyone else here have or breed Deathlayers?
Westfalische Totleger - AKA Deathlayers are a very old German breed so it would be best to start with the German standard. You can find German breed standards at
https://www.bdrg.de
It is often easier to find breed standards through breed clubs or associations. Here is a link to one, you can use a website translator for English language as there is good breeding information here aside from the standard.

A slightly less inclined cylindrical shape, full and deep chest, good developed belly, slightly loosely carried tail, slightly prominent thighs, small rose crest, small ear and wattle flaps.
Colors and markings:
Silver
Rooster neck feathers, shoulders, back and saddle feathers silver-white. The tail is black, with hints of speckling on the edge of the sickle feathers. The rest of the plumage and the secondary sickles have irregular, coarse, black speckling, which disappears into the downy plumage of the belly, dark gray, underpants dark gray.
Hen neck silver-white, slightly speckled in the lower part. The rest of the plumage is noticeably more finely speckled than in the rooster. The speckling extends in the tail feathers up to the tip, which is black.
Gold
Rooster golden brown, hen slightly lighter in color, otherwise the markings are like silver.
Major faults:
Hamburger shape (too light and slim), too high or too low position, coarse-boned legs, leg color other than gray-blue.
For silver: banding or too coarse flake markings, lack of markings in the tail feathers of the hens.
For gold: white in the wings and tail feathers, otherwise as for silver.
