HMM my duck eggs are Pure Rouens with crested genes and blue swedish will be Blue Swede and Rouen. I have hatched alot that are identical blue swedes though. So the eggs would be half pure half cross.. My Brown Contournix and white pharoh quail are laying again now. Would it be 6 quail eggs or more from them. My WC black polish are laying now but I only have one pair and they are going into bator. Everyone else it seems is on strike.

I bought them as peeps from Meyer hatchery in Ohio. They were born June 10th. So they are 5 and a half months old. I need to take an updated picture of them and add it to my blog because they are already huge!

If I do send Pure Black Jersey Giants can I get something besides chickens in return? Like quail (any kind), chukars, turkeys, guineas (really want)....

Many different ways. I use 12"x4" bubble wrap strips. At the bottom of the long end I fold over each side to make a little pocket, tape the pocket to make sure it will stay, then put my egg in the pocket and roll it up. Once rolled I tape it all closed. I think being the 12 inches long the bubble wrap gives the egg good protection. I then stuff the box I am using with bubble wrap odds and ends as well as wadded up paper...once it is packed half full ( make sure it is good and tight) then I put in the eggs and put more bubble wrap pieces and paper around them so nothing can move. Tape your box very well. I mark the outside in several places "hatching eggs", fragile", "do not xray" or whatever else in big RED lettering so PO has a clue about taking it easy on the box.

I thank pumpkinpup and Tiff for this info...they are very patient and kind teachers.

I set a group of my own eggs about a week or so ago and candled them. All of them are developing except one that had a small crack on it. I chucked that one. So if I do ship any I'll have to candle them to make sure there aren't cracks. I need to do that with the ones we eat too. I was so excited that every one of them was developing! Gosh its tempting to join this swap. I will have to see how the birds are laying by the 5th.

How did I miss this???? I vote that Tiff sends PM's to all the people that had participated in the previous swap, so we don't overlook it!
