Looking forward to pics of little NN chicks. They're so cute and popular this year! I went ahead and candled my 2nd batch of shipped eggs, 4/8 eggs look to be developing. The 2nd batch spent 2 extra days in shipping so I'm glad half are still going.

I have NN in my batch! Due this month (2 batches.)
I have one complete clutch-hatch, that had an egg that I slipped in late, so it will prolly hatch tomorrow. It is under a hen currently a single.

The egg looks like the Blue copper Maran egg above. I had a couple chicks hatch from the same eggs and they looked like this.

As always I can't help myself. I had the opportunity to get a dozen Sultan eggs and jumped right on them! here in Australia they are classed as critical, only 55 breeding birds were recorded this year on the rare poultry trust list (total numbers unknown). I think these will be the most stressful and expensive eggs I have or ever will incubate

Huh.... what are some other chickens on the rare poultry list? That's interesting! Do you have a link to the list? I want to see what other breeds are rare!!! Thanks!

We dont have large scale hatcheries so if you want anything other than production hybrids you need to find breeders. The numbers are what was recorded so could be higher but it shows what breeds are less commonly kept.
Very strict import laws make it hard to get new breeds or blood lines

I had 6 chicks hatch on Monday, this one hatched last night. I slipped it into the incubator late. Blue copper maran. I thought he would hatch light colored, but he is black. Fun to see the diff colors.
