December 2021 Hatch-A-Long

Anyone else planning on hatching this December?
I purchased 3 dozen duck eggs that will arrive in a few days so will hatch the second week of December. They are Pekin, Khaki Campbell and some mixes of the two. Pretty sure thats all I'll be doing since I have a ton of chicks plus new goslings

I am done with my Dec. 9th hatch. 7/8 of my hens eggs.

I set later today, for my New's hatch,

but this is my Dec 21 set...11/12.

This is my New Year set, LO because I have not set that kind yet, and a couple more bantam, and 2 more Bluebell egger. All from my hens.

What breed is your enormous chonk?

8 of my shipped Ketawa eggs made it to lockdown. This is the 1st time I'm trying to hatch in a carton with the eggs standing up.

If I were to hatch in carton I use a hole punch so it can breathe well.

I want to see if I get more eggs today, but I have one I want to add to my New years hatch.

This gray egg, and the same egg second left from top, just for contrast...(These particular eggs are not in incubator.)

Perfect storm because she doesn't lay much, I have not hatched one of hers yet, and I don't always have a rooster. She is an AC/california white mix.

What breed is your enormous chonk?

They are from an auction of Greenfire marans. We ended up with two White Marans and five Black Copper Marans. The BCM were from two different breeding groups so fingers crossed we have a nice mix of genetics.
