December 2022 hatch-a-long

An update on my six shipped eggs - three out of six have hatched, with a fourth expected to hatch (currently internally pipped). The fifth did pip but was malpositioned and the chick died before I could intervene, and the sixth was an obvious late-quitter. It looks like I'll wind up with two black cuckoo, and two from the chocolate pen (one is the internal pip, and the one that has already hatched looks very mauve). They all have nice dark skin so far, which us what I need to improve my own Cuckoo project.

The four Splash that hatched yesterday have moved to the brooder, and are so fluffy and adorable!

The chicks went to their home and he dropped off 24 more eggs for me to hatch.

Lockdown tomorrow

The incubator is back in stock and quantities don’t seem limited, but I think I’d better hold out for a better price… I do have a couple gift cards though

I rehomed some surprise hens to day. I gave the guy 7 hens. I asked if he wanted my one rooster, he said sure. I like to find homes for roosters.

I have 4 cockerels that I desperately need to rehome. It breaks my heart they’re just sitting in their run waiting to go or GO. I’ve tried Craigslist and sold one but that was a month ago. Wish you were closer

Do you have any local Facebook groups? I found homes for most of my cockerels on local FB farm or poultry pages. A couple may have gone to a pot but about 90% found a home. One lady that has bachelor pads took my last 5.
