December Egg Swap ~ It's New Years Day - How's your Hatches Going?

well have been working on the red pyle , black , and lemon duckwing leghorns ( such a hassle the birds that is ) , jubilee and mottled orps , jubilee rir 3rd generation , frizzled rir are correct leg color i would like the color to be darker and it will before long got some new birds coming , and have been thinking of a silver laced or mottled ameraucana or blr ameraucana ...

WOW! donnie you're busy! My fawn sebrights are about all I can keep up with in the project area!! Been working on it for 2 years and something always happens to slow me down but I'm still at it. I need some new silver sebrights to work into the mix!!

On a bad note . . . . I just went out and found my brooder with the silkie chicks off and all my silkie chicks dead!!!! Man!! I hate when that happens.

Wow, that sux. So sorry. I am hoping to order some silver sebright eggs off of ebay. Have been watching and there seems to be 2 or 3 people that regularly auction off eggs. Hoping I might get some. I know they are hard to hatch but its worth a try and if they are crappy quality I figure they can't be much worse than hatchery which is what I will start off with in the spring if I don't get them before.

Has anyone on here started off there breeding program with hatchery quality birds? I know it takes a long time but have heard that they can be bred to standard.

Yeah a lot of the chicks I hatched have been sold with chicks I was hatching to sale , so I have had to start over with new chicks idk how many times , and still have yet to get a silkie to go broody but I sold all the old silkies I had and got better ones ( better crests and beards ) so hopefully these will do what I got tem for , then I have my coronation split sussex( getting that roo next week I believe but still looking for another from different flock ) and I still have my bantam cochins and working with them as well

hey Donnie,
what are you doing with your cochin-
I have 5 white hens that have thrown buff, black, lemon blue with my buff roo & threw some blue splash & an awesome looking black splas/mottled
from my splash roo before the owl got him. I am about to put them in with my millie roo to see what they throw by him since I still havent found a decent milli hen. I am planning to give him some mottled girls when the mature if I still havent gotten any millie girls.

not gonna join this month, gotta get christmas first.

hey Donnie!
nope, I dont have any of your birds, unless someone else has your bloodlines?
my adult white & buff are local and my millie roo is from k9menagerie. everything else
is stuff I hatched this year. A pair of really pretty blue (have to look up who it was early this spring) and an
pair of splash from renegade, and mottled from tennesseetruly (I need more! lol looks like they are both roos)
maybe we can work a swap after christmas, once I see what that milli roo can do?
