DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Pics
I'm getting really excited about my cuckoo silkie project babies! The first cockeral is from my 12.6 hatch, and his barring in coming in gorgeously, although his feet and beak are too light (the barring gene also inhibits skin pigmentation in the first several generations).

Now the second cockeral hatched last night (12.22) and looks to be cuckoo with perfectly dark skin and beak! I believe my "foundation" hen is F2 cuckoo, and she has bright pink skin. I was not expecting to get the dark pigmentation so strongly on my first generation!

Eek my chicks could hatch any time now. I did find one cold egg out from under the silkie a few days ago so marked it and put it back. Im a bit ahead on timezone so its now 1:30am the day before christmas and I should be sleeping lol. Its going to be hard to prepare for Christmas and check an incubator plus two broody hens
Good luck with the hatches!🥰

Just wanted to wish everyone on the hatch along happy holidays and hope you all get to enjoy time as much as you can with family and friends under the circumstances.❤️
Good luck with all of your upcoming hatches. Please post photos of your little fluff balls!🥰

A baker’s dozen (lucky 13) went into lockdown last night. So if you’ve ever wondered what happens when eggs are shipped 2000 miles, with saddled air cells :(, followed by inconsistent turning :barnie, set upside down and on their sides :duc, and temperature fluctuations :hit, I’ll be able to let you know in a couple of days. Anything that makes it out of these eggs will be super-chicks after overcoming all of my $&@#-ups.
What type breeds are you hatching?
