DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Pics
Here’s the two newbies that hatched out today while we were at the grocery store! I candled them yesterday because I wasn’t sure if I should put the turner back in the incubator or not. I wish I had taken a photo, I could clearly see their heads facing the air pocket. They seemed like they were looking out a window.

Thing Five is, somehow, still alive - which would bring my hatch rate to 42% (counting the infertile as fails), but I have real doubts. Keeping things moist so it doesn't shrink wrap, but its still well affixed to the shell (it was the last egg to go in incubation, 3 almost 4 days behind the others, and its orientation in the shell is wrong - was feet first into the air sack. Seems to be breathing with the bit of shell I've removed, very carefully, but I'm still not seeing the beak.

Fingers crossed.

Well, 9 out of 11 ain't bad! I did assist the last two, as they had piped 30+ hours ago and were sounding very weak.

Final color count -
6 chipmunk stripes that look like partridge.
2 that are either black or blue
1 NN Cuckoo boy (that's sex-linked).

Eggtopsies showed my late quitters were both NN, jury is out if either was cuckoo.
Congratulations on your new silkies!🥰

Buckeyefoodie what is NN?
I love the chipmunk pattern is so adorable do they have the eyeliner as well?
NN is Naked Neck. Not an aesthetic I'm personally fond of, but I didn't know it was possible to get that when I purchased the eggs I hatched my cuckoo girl from. She's so stinkin' nice that I'm willing to overlook it, lol! 20200614_115305.jpg Cuckoo lady at 5 months old back in warmer days when she didn't have her crest plastered with dirt... she's obviously only partially naked neck. They have a technical name for it, but I don't actually care...

4 have the eyeliner, two are just deep colored with gold tips.

Is that condensation on your windows? What is your humidity at?
