lol. Chick looks a bit tired, I think it's taking a break for a bit. Poor chick, such an exhausting process but I know it knows what it's doing... not opening incubator for anything till day 22. By the way PD Riverman... when you say day 22 do you mean beginning of day 22 or end of day 22?.
yes I did get a little one which I have my fingers crossed will be white. I would take the bloody one out to help it but the marans that is pipped is literally right next to that one. still no more pipped. I really wanted those splash too lolCrossing my fingers for you on those! I had one that pipped in the wrong spot and his blood vessels took a little while to recede. It took 15 hours to get him out of his shell. I kept checking him every 2 hours hoping he would be able to get out...opening the hole wider...but, he was in like superglue!
You got a lil yellow chick...didn't you? I am in love with this lil yellow chick I got from the Sizzle egg. Praying you have better luck than I dad with the splash. I candled a splash today and didn't see much...I stuck him back in the bator...just in case...
so fascinating.. hubby set up the Web cam last night and I don't even have to stand at the counter to watch but it's better seeing it in person! At least my laundry is getting done despite me being so focused on the chick. If laundry is all I get done today oh well! They will rest a bit....hard to take your eyes away isn't it? I find hatch fascinating!

Put the eggs in and let them warm up for about 12 hours. Eggs hold more heat than air, so you may have to adjust the thermostat tomorrow if the temp is not right. You may also have to readjust after adding water. When you add water, make sure it is warm (around 100 degrees) and the temperature fluctuations will be minimal. Also, at some point in incubation the embroys will start producing their own heat and you have to turn the incubator down. I can't remember the day, but it is somewhere during the second week.So if i understand right...my Hovabator has a thermostat, but i have to get it where it turns on and off at 100... which i have, overnight, nice and steady....now when i place the eggs in, it will drop, but come back up because i have the setting locked with the wing-nut....i shouldn't have to readjust it right?!!! ....also i 'm doing a dry hatch until lock down (the humidity is so high with all the rain)...ok...i'm almost ready to put my 6 eggs in![]()
good luck.First hatch with the brinsea...thought it would be good for draft protection. These guys are due Sunday. Rhodebars from an eBay auction. Started w 7...one was cracked...one blank and one early quitter. The remaining 4 are very dark and heavy. I hope the humidity is ok bc I just followed the brinsea directions.
Crossing my fingers again...
