honestly it could be either. If it has an air hole and its nostrils aren't covered with sticky I would say just resting
it has a big enough hole and the nostrils don't look covered with anything. I don't see any movement at all though but I really hope it's just sleeping. :/ guess nothing I can do about it if it did die. But if I leave it in there will it affect any of the others?

Just looked in on my chick and it doesn't appear to be moving at all. Before I could clearly see it breathing. It's beak is opened and not moving at all.... is it just resting or did it die?

That's the worst part...not knowing. He may be sleeping or not. How long has he been pipped? Sometimes they breath so slightly you don't see much!

first I noticed it was 10 30pm so it's only been about 14 hours, i dont think it could have been pipped for more than 30 mins because i had my eyes on them often but it was making such good progress all morning. If it did die is it maybe because humidity is too low, it's only been at 65

I thought the stuck one was dead for about 6 hours the other day. He pipped day 19 or 20...I pulled him out at almost 22. I waited to grab him when I cleared the chicks out of the incubator...and he was weak and thready and started peeping. The membrane was so dry by then that his eye was stuck open...I had to get him out with antibiotic ointment, tweezers, fingernails, wet napkin...

I have no idea how long they can live in the shell once it has pipped... I am thinking he may be sleeping...they are like babies,,,cry...eat...sleep poop...cry some more...coo

I have no comment on humidity...I have not found a good humidity for my area that is working well with my hatches... Certainly not the one in the manual...
