I set 20 chicken eggs today.

Can anyone tell me if the very speckled egg is chicken or not? The lady I got that batch of eggs from has geese, and may have ducks. The speckles are almost a purplish color. The egg is a bit bigger then most of the other eggs.

It's the size of a chicken egg but I've never seen one with speckles like that. Should be interesting to see what you get!

Looks like it's the size of a chicken egg but I couldn't tell you. Would be interesting to see what's in it. Did she tell you what breeds she was giving you with the eggs you got? Keep us posted! I just set my dozen mixed eggs yesterday so we have close hatch dates.

I can't wait to see what comes out of that one. I've never seen a speckled chicken egg before but it looks like the others with spots. Maybe just a rare eggshell anomaly. I bet it adds to the excitement though! I set eggs today too

I will look for candling differences the indicates something other then a chicken

I know she has speckled Sussex, barred rock, RIR, sex-links... She has Toulouse geese and Rouen ducks too so well see

Some of my chickens eggs are speckled, but not like this so this will defiantly be exciting, I do hope it hatches.

I'll keep everyone posted. I'll take extra care of this egg. This is my third hatch, so I have some expeirence

Looks like a turkey egg to me. My turkey hen laid eggs exactly like that when she first started to lay and they were the same size as a chicken egg, maybe a bit bigger.

Oh yes maybe! I completely forgot she had turkey's! She had 15ish, got them in the spring but processed them today.
