December hatch-along

I have 5 dozen in it and about 3 stages of development do to cold and warm spots i guess some look like a day one egg some have a large yolk and some have the start of the heart just the little line of blood and some have a full set of veins i find that the closer they are to the heat source the more they have developed so i moved them around some to get them all a chance at the heat source. I am going out later and getting some rock to put in the bottom but it is currently around 20 degrees out so i am staying in for now. LOL I have a laptop that does not work anymore and was thinking of pulling the fan out of it and wiring it in. Has anyone ever done that before. I need pointers.

That's awesome!!! Sounds like a good mother hen.

I have high hopes for her as a mother, because she is a Buff Orpington, and so far, they have been the best mommas we have had.

now that it is darker i checked most all the eggs and to my suprise most have a nice circle of veins in them covering almost half the egg about 5 had nothing out of the 40 i checked and one just had a little line floating where it started forming but may have been lost. I am going to log which have veins i numbered them and put a mark if they had life so i can see how things go. Wish me luck

Thank Yall I really hope this time around works good I have to build a brooder still so i need to get to work I am 5 days in with around 35-40 live chicks on the way and no place to put them the last 2 days the tem here went from 70s to 20s AHHHHHHHH any tips I want a good outdoor brooder i do not have a building to put it in and no place in the house as i have bottle baby goats everywhere LOL I am glad someone evented play pens.

well when you must feed them 3-4 times a day and you have a 2 year old a 4 year old and are prego you do not want to walk all over the place with bottles am i right
