December hatch along

Here is the lone survivor of an Ayam Cemani batch I received through mail order... yeah I know how you feel.View attachment 1610979 Its actually larger than an Ayam Cemani and will go into my black meat bird experimental breeding program
I have one that’s supposed to hatch soon but it looks like some fluid of some kind is collecting in the aircell so I’m not sure if it’s going to make it

Actually, I have 2 of the still-air styrofoam incubators. I have an automatic turner for one of them, but that incubator isn't the one that I have been using the last 2 times. I have been using my incubator that doesn't have the turner, and incubated my egg's pointy side down in egg carton's that I cut the lid's off of and poked a little hole in the bottom of the cups. I kept them in it until 7 days before hatch, then I layed them down in there on their sides. They are now in lock-down with the raised humidity at 60%.

I got 4 naked necks out of the hatch total, but the blue color was a surprise! It's out of either a buff Columbian or BBRXGold Spangled NN hen, crossed with what I am *thinking* is one of my EE roos, because my other roos are Welsummers, Penedesencas, and Asian Blacks. It *could* be the Asian Black technically, because there is so much mixture in their blood still...but I'm leaning towards my EE roos.

@Compost King good luck with your winter storm. We’re getting pounded by rain here. Flooding pretty bad. I lost a few adult birds (bantams) yesterday due to the weather.

@ATeacherChick do I see some NN?

I see a little blue Nn with a bib on it there! What was it mixed with?

One of the parent's had to have been the NN. What color are your EE roos'?
