December hatch-along?

It’s lockdown day! I candled for the last time, and most are trying to break thru the air cell, but this one has pipped! It’s quite a big one too. I’ve upped the humidity, locked it down and am praying for a good hatch!

After reading the hatch-alongs and the forums, i have been inspired by everyone's stories. I did just hatch 10 Australorps 6 weeks ago and cleaned my bator and said no more until next spring. (We are currently in re-build mode here due to a storm which caused our gum trees to drop limbs and one dropped onto the chook run, hubby is in the process of fixing, but gum trees needed to be cut right back before he can start to repair the chook run. Something got in (i'm assuming a fox) and got my girls they had just started laying) but on a happier note my little ones inside in the brooder have kept me going/interested as it was very disheartening.
So with everyone's stories here which gave me hope, i have order 6 eggs which will be delivered in 2 days. Small hatch for me this time. Was a very hard discussion but im so glad i did it now.
Planning to set them in 3 days which will put my hatching at 26th Dec.

So I decided to join you all in these Hatch-Along stories.



This will be my first attempt since getting the incubator. I am going to attempt a Dry Hatch (I think that's what you call it) and not worry about the humidity. I was able to fit 9 chicken eggs in the automatic turner. Set them on Tuesday November 26th.

I pick up my eggs tomorrow (I hope) and into the bator they go. Christmas Eve hatch?

I'm pick-up my eggs tomorrow too, but i'll let them sit for 24hrs before i set them

Happy day indeed! First little baby hatched, and two more have pipped! It’s not black, but it’s cute all the same!

Thanks! But she’s SCREAMING! And I thought ducklings were loud... None of the others are out yet, so she’s in the brooder screaming so loud I bet the neighbors think we have an angry macaw!

I have always left them in the bator until the others hatch, i read that their chirps encourage the others to break out. Last hatch i took half out due to crowding, had never hatched 10 eggs before, have always done 6 at a time, my bator holds 10.
but i'm still learning

Ok, I’ll do that for the others. I’ve had problems of humidity getting too higher during hatch and didn’t want anything to happen to it. It’s also fairly small, and it was trampling the other eggs. There is one in the incubator that has to pipped and started hatching, tho.
