December Hatch:Who is going to have Christmas babies?

Our hatch date is 12-4. I have 12 Copper Marans and 12 Buff Orpington all shipped, plus 3 of my mutts for the control group. I haven't had a chance to candle yet. I guess I gotta get a move on it.

Just put in my first eggs.. Buff Orpingtons... a total of 9. We will see how it goes. Hatch date should be 15/16th if I count today (I think)..lol

I had to do the same thing with the last of my hatch tonight. One died in the shell, and one had curled toes. Curly seems to be learning to walk in the brooder. I left him in the incubator for a couple of hours first. The rest of my hatch, did hatch well. Other than those, I have a Naked neck something or other that took a while to get his splayed legs out from under him/her, and doing alright now.

I am due to have self blue naked necks hatch on the 3rd which i bought from a fellow BYC member, and then I have a silkie gone broody who should hatch in the next fews days ( I don't remember when she exactly went broody). I am excited as naked necks are my favorite breed of chicken.

My husband thinks I'm absolutely nuts, way over the edge...After all those roos this past year, he thinks I shouldn't hatch another egg, ever...HaHaHaHa!!!

However, he forgets about the whites I got, and the Chocolates, and the Blues, and the Barred...

Glad you aren't giving up. Let me know when you get a good black pullet with yellow legs. If I can ever get my Blue over his "yellow" streak (he runs away screaming every time I come near and I can no longer get a good pic because tail is down as he tries to escape me *sigh*) and assuming he is decent, he needs some good yellow legged girlfriends.

Set some BO and BCM eggs yesterday along with coturnix.
I should have some silkies hatching sometime next Sunday in buff and partridge.
