December Hatch:Who is going to have Christmas babies?

I have 2 more eggs in lock down due on the 20th then 13 more go in on Christmas Eve. I'm sure i'll have a Christmas chicks as I always have early birds. I'll be stopping after those till spring. I have 20 silkie, sizzle and frizzle chicks now. I think tending to them indoors a few months will be enough to deal with. Plus, i'll be going out of town and DH will have to tend to them while i'm gone for about a month. He also has the birds outside to tend to. What few hours of free time he has now will be used up.

My frizzle and sizzles are still laying everyday and I get a few silkie eggs too but I hate to waste them. I've been offering them up for $10 a dozen plus postage. It would be better if somebody was closer to me to just pick them up. Risking freezing in the mail is a bit risk right now. I have had some of these since the 11th so i'll have to toss those out. I don't like to keep any longer than 4 days if they are to be shipped and 7 if they are getting picked up. I'll be going to Portage Indiana in January but I don't have an exact date. I can bring some with me to be picked up there if anybody is interested. Just soot me a PM. That is provided they don't stop laying by then. What I have most right now are frizzle and sizzle eggs. They are white hens with recessive black and the roo is a black lavender splash roo. The chicks i've hatched out are black, black skin and 5 toes.

I'm tripping out . I have now hatched an egg & another is on the way. A freind was suppose to help but he is no where to be found. I put some water & corn meal for the chick in the bator. When do I remove the chick from the bator?

A pic I took earlier of one of the girls! I love it when they are this little, before you know it they are half grown
Her half pink middle toes are cute!!!

Hi,
I just found this thread. I have 22 silkie eggs set to hatch on Tues. Hope it's not too late to join? I love all the anxiety and excitement of a hatch coming!

I had the power go out four hours but was lucky enough to have a generator to make it until power was restored. If I did not have a generator I would use a heavy duty deep sycle 12 volt battery with 12v light bulbs for standby. I also use 2 bulbs to heat incubator in case one fails.
