December incubating

So I decided to do some candeling... first time incubating... 8 are definitely good... one had such a thick shell I couldn't tell. Think I will just go with it...
If it smells rotten then it's rotten if it doesn't smell rotten just go with it!! :)

I checked the bator today... looks like all the eggs are viable... lock down on the 23rd... 1 RIR roo covering 7 RIR hens and 2 BSL hens...

So how did they do? My bator has 7 eggs that should be ready tomorrow with 2 more eggs questionable...

All 6 babies hatched out.. They are all black with a white chest, belly, and tip of the head :).. I think they are mixed with Autralorp

Kudos to you, we dont start hatching until Mid January... Worst part of having chickens is in the winter, unless you have heated waters or a heated building.... I remember when we used to have to go break the ice out of the buckets.

Man that sux! I have a heat lamp in my girls coop to help keep them warm

I have the showgirls with one or two frizzles. FX the frizzles make it!!

I also have naked necks, easter eggs, buff orphingtons, and Light Brahmas. I have a roo for all but the Buff's so I'm not sure what they will look like!

Any way to figure out crosses? Lol. This was just an expirement to see if we could do a better hatch this time without shipping eggs before I buy some more local eggs ;)

We are on lock down and waiting!
