Decided to quit smoking...whose with me?!? Tips WELCOME!!

I quit smoking Nov. 4, 2003. Pretty much cold turkey, but I did grab me a pack of those nicotine free cigs, and the two times I found myself "dying" for a smoke, I lit one of those up...both times my kids almost "busted" me....I felt sooo low that I never picked up a smoke again. I had some help from welbutrin and a strong support system. No one I hang around with, or my family smoke, so I didn't run into is much early on.

On a side note, the catalyst for my quitting: One day when driving down the road I passed a Speedway gas station....out of sheer instinct, I patted my shirt pocket to check for how many smokes I had....I then realized that pretty much every time I went some where, or did anything my first subconcious thought was "do I have enough smokes?, should I get more before?". My whole day was based on the smokes! It was that realization that made me want to quit more than ever. I would never let another human being have so much control over what I did, or how I did it...why the heck was I letting the smokes control me like this? So, I gave myself the best birthday present and quit smoking!

Best of luck to you....if ever you need a word of encouragement, turn to your loved ones, I'm sure they would love to have you around for a long long time, and will gladly remind you why you wanted to quit in the first place.

Last time I quit, It was because everyone wanted me to. I used nicorette, i wasnt grumpy either. This time, it was my choice and I am taking it as a challenge, almost like a dare. LOL It makes it so much easier.
