Decided to quit smoking...whose with me?!? Tips WELCOME!!

I quit 10 months ago after 35 years of a pack a day. I knew I could never ever quit smoking, I just liked it too much. Then a friend of mine suggested this website about electronic cigarettes, or we call them personal vaporizers. I am now vaping, and quitting tobacco cigarettes was a breeze. For all the information you'll ever want on this go to e-cigarette-forum.com

I vape tobacco flavors mostly, but yesterday I had butterscotch, and today it's coconut. But I really like 555 and Hilton for tobacco-like flavor (but better).

For me, when my hands and mind are busy I don't crave as much. This is how I quit before when I was pregnant. I just wish I hadn't ever given in and started back up.
I'm really proud of you Cindi

, you know you can call me any time for support, or to just tell you no

. I'd be joining you Monday but with all the recent upheaval I think I need to let that settle first. I know Ed will be really supportive

since he's wanted me to quit for years, I wish your hubby would quit with you

, I know it was much harder to quit when I was around smokers.

I smoked for 30 years, and quit using the otc patch. Honestly, I couldn't believe how easy it was, but I had really set my mind towards it. The patch burned a little, and gave me a rash, but made it easy to not smoke, so I just sucked it up. I tried the gum, but couldn't stand it. Even after 2 years though, I could easily start again if I let myself. The worst part for me is that I liked smoking. The best part about quitting was being able to breathe after running up a flight of stairs.

The only tip I have is when you want to smoke, DON'T. IT WILL PASS.

Good luck!!!

Wow !! I am so glad to find this thread- I was on the Chantrix a few months ago and it cut me back a lot but dont' think I took it long enough. I have no insurance so I have been going to the health department and the last time they supplied the Chantrix for me. When I went the other day They had ran out of funds for Chantrix so I've been thinking about gathering it up from friends who couldn't take it for one reason or another. I know you are not really supposed to do that but it has been prescirbed for me and They will write me a prescription but I just can't afford it right now. I knwo the cigarettes are more expensive in the long run but we scrape a little up at a time and roll our own . We can still get it pretty cheap ( btw) They told me i have Mild lung restrictive disease and it would be SEVERE lung restrictive disease if I didn't find a way to quit. My habit is a demon- I can't seem to get enough nicotine. I'm gonna be keeping up with this thread and hope it keeps going strong so that you all can keep on inspiring me.!! Good luck to everybody that is quitting - I"M ROOTING FOR YOU!!!

We roll ours too. It's still almost $2 a pack that way, but better than $5. That's why I want to quit though, I have better ways to spend money that is so hard to come by!! WE'RE ROOTING FOR YOU TOO!!!! Keep posting to let us know how you are doing!

Monday is quit day for me!

I'm currently trying to quit. This is my second day without smoking. I try to keep gum in my mouth as much as possible. I'm also eating the crap out of sunflower seeds. God is it tough. Good luck.

I quit April 28 2000, it was the hardest thing i've done. my wife and i quit together. Suggestions. 1. dont smoke in your car or house for any reason. use gums and patches together if you have to, quitting will be worth it. 3. if you must take a puff, find the biggest nastiest cigar you can find, it will not take the place of your favorite brand quickly. it took me 3 1/2 months to quit patches gums and everything but you MUST! MUST! set a date and stick to it. when you quit, never start back. Right now you cant imagine living without a smoke but i assure you the day will come when the smell of a cig will make you gag. if you could follow yourself into a store on a rainy day and smell yourself you would never smoke again. not trying to be hard on anyone but quitting is hard you must be ready for the fight. you will not regret quitting. best wishes on your success. your wallet and your lungs will thank you. by the way i smoked for 18 years and was up to 2 1/2 packs of marlboro red aday.

I'm so sick of trying to quit and then essentially "quitting" on myself! I'm thinking after my current pack I'll do it...dang cigarettes!
