Decreased egg laying, hot and humid, Australorp chickens

It has been in the high 80's and very humid lately. We usually get 5 eggs from our 5 chickens a day but now only 1 or 2! They are Australorps and about 9 months old. Is it because of the heat? They do have lots of shade to go in. Occasionally I mist them with the hose and they like it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's so hot & humid here on the gulf that my australorps lay boiled eggs. But they still lay.

All joking aside , change in weather can & does at times affect laying.

I have four I knew where laying 3-4 eggs a day up to a few weeks ago. I also have 3 more about laying age. My Americana stopped laying first about two weeks ago then the other layers followed. I haven't had an egg in a week, only 1-2 per day the week before that. It has been in the upper 90's to 105 here.

Yes, weather changes effect egg laying. We just went from a very long, relatively cool, rainy period to 90+ degrees and high humidity. All the hens are panting. We usually get 50+ eggs a day, but yesterday we only got 44 (grumble grumble grumble).

The worst part is, if they get used to the heat and start laying again, they may slow down again for a few days when the weather gets stormy, or we have a cool snap.
