He’s so pretty! But roosters need their ability to crow to talk to the hens. You know they have a language right? They name you and teach your name to the next generation. They have 27 distinct sounds that mean specific things.
When a rooster crows “cock-a-doodle-doooo!” It means “come home“ or “wake up and get out!” it’s like aloha.
when a rooster crows “err-Err-ERR-errrrrrrrr......” that means “run inside now!”and when they say “rrrrrrrAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!” That means “hawk! get your booty inside NOW!” They also make a hoot hoot noise that I’m sure means “owl” but is ingrained to mean “danger! Run and hide!” When a rooster puts his face on something and makes a warbling sound it means “hey girls! I found a bug! Come eat!” He won’t eat bugs but he will keep an eye out for them for the girls to eat! So many noises!! I wish I could take him but I don’t have that kind of money. I have three amerecaunas that are technically still pullets. They should be laying first eggs any day now. Hootie and Blue are gorgeous but Hodor is a bit of an ugly duckling lol
blue (her face is so cute I can’t even)
Hootie (looks more like a hawk than an owl now but what you gonna do? Hoot Hoot!)
Hodor! (She literally performed the scene from game of thrones that gave Hodor his name when her best friend Freckle sacrificed herself to a hawk for the flock)
Freckle. We miss you girl.
