I have a jersey giant hen who has a very deep laceration on her back that I presume she got from My obese Jersey giant rooster. I brought her inside last night washed her as best as I could , I tried to clean the wound with iodine and then dress the wound with antibacterial cream and gauze. The wind is very deep you can see her muscle below I feel like she could use oral antibiotics. The vet Said to give her 1/4 a cc of amoxicillin by injection but Rural King does not sell any oral or injectable antibiotics. I have some Augmentin which is amoxicillin and clauvanic acid. I am open to any suggestions… And I appreciate your input

Most wounds will heal up without antibiotics. I'd wait and see. Apply a topical wound product, and watch for flies.

Are you keeping the rooster? Those big boys can be hard on hens. Keeping toe nails and spurs trimmed may help.

Chickens are really good at healing. I've seen some pretty nasty stuff heal up with nothing more than some bluekote.
