I think I'm in love with deep litter.
I never once have had any odor from the coop, and I've been so paranoid about that.
Now that it's been a few months there's a nice layer of bedding, and its warm.
Hubby threw straw on top of it all earlier this week.
AND come spring I'll have a very nice addition to the compost bin.
really though, I can't believe how warm it was inside yesterday when it was only 24 degrees outside. I only have 2 chickens, and only 1 lays. The eggs on these cold mornings haven't frozen, even after several hours, unlike the duck laying outside, her's froze fast.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
