*deep sigh* Lost Cinnamon UPDATE! Good/Bad news

Well the good news is she came home at dusk missing quite a few feathers but no worse. Somehow she must have gotten free. I was shocked to see her strolling through the lawn about four hours later!

The bad news is that the coyote has been hanging out in our yard ever since. It was circling the coop for a while this afternoon and I've seen it come in and out of the woods a few times. I'm not supposed to discharge my firearms within city limits either. Until I figure out what to do all my animals are under house arrest.

Amazing story. I'm so happy for you.

I lost one of my sweet BO gals yesterday and there was no sign of a fight. After reading this thread, I'm wondering if it was coyotes... hmmmm. Unfortunately I haven't seen her since. Our roo keeps crowing for her, but she's no where in sight. I haven't given up hope.

Oh jeesh! Im so glad she is back....poor thing. If only she could tell the tale!
You might want to get a hold of animal controll....or a wild life officer. They can trap it for you...or show you how. BE SAFE!!

Glad she came home, maby you can talk to fish and game or the city on discharching your firamarm and maby get a one time use permist or something just for this coyote. But I doubt that but they could come out and trap it for you, Its probably a loner male , just looking for food.

Wow - it's incredible that she got away! No deep wounds anywhere? Does she seem free of shock, eating and drinking fine? What stories she must be telling her feathered friends!. That coyote may well have pups and be extra hungry. Sad world - that one must suffer so another can live. I would have scripted it differently. I hope all will be well with your hen and that the coyote will find greener pastures elsewhere.

McGoo, I'm so sorry that your girl is still missing - very sad about that. She may be injured somewhere and need her humans to find her....I hope very much that this has a happy ending.

Cockadoodlemom lost a few of her chickens today by a coyote attack. She wondered if they hunted in the day time. I told her the animal must be feeding a litter to come out midday. I am sad to read this has happened to you as well. I am sorry for your loss.

OMG now why didn't I think of that. I've got one just sitting there out in the garage. Animal control is of no use. They'd be busier than a one armed paper hanger if they responded to every call about coyote in the back yard.

I can't believe the chicken got away either. The only thing I can think of is that one of the rocks that my DH threw at it actually hit it and gave the chicken a chance to get free. I shouldn't underestimate that chicken though. My Golden Retriever is scared to death of her.
