He's in the freezer, and on the wall!

Equus50...I would drop that buck in a split second. LOL Good looking buck.

Chicks_N_Horses ... Technically, the shot from a rifle or a bow should be the same shot, heart and lung, drop em. Most folks gets trigger happy with the safety of the rifle's knockdown power and distant abilities, they wound rather than kill. More deer are wounded each year, tracked and killed than clean kills. It irritates me to no end to see these yahoos with rifles bigger than their common sense. LOL

I buy deer hides to braintan every year...some of them look like they were shot with a machine gun...I spent hours sewing multiple bullet holes in the hides. It is amazing to me how many hunters could not hit the broadside of a barn on the first shot.

But you are correct, bowhunting is more fun! hehehehe

Yep, I have seen plenty of those deer that looked like they had been shot with a machine gun....that was a good comparison

That was a nice buck Equis50!!

This is my fav. subject .... deer

Stand hunting is fine, but the stands DH uses are in our freakin cow pasture, like I havent seen THAT a million times already! Take me somewhere NEW if youre going to make me sitt all day and freeze my butt off!

We go to the "stand" about 30 minutes before sundown, sit in the lawn chair, take cooler and a few drinks and "hunt". Early in the season here you can hunt in shorts and a tee shirt still. You guys are going to think I'm a real hillybilly over this one. Last year I shot a medium sized buck back in the 2nd field so I went out and drug him back to the drainage ditch and then had a brain storm. Call Sharon on the cell phone, "honey would you get the wheelbarrow and bring it over to me". So there we were pushing a wheelbarrow thru a soy bean field with 4 legs sticking up in the air. That would have been a picture.

LOL Wheelbarrow! That is an idea! My Dh comes and gets my horse and throws it on her and makes her bring it home.

My husband has hunted since he was old enough to carry and before that he sat on the stand with his mom or dad. Now me? I had never hunted until we moved to MN (back for my DH). My first year I got an old 11 point buck and a yearling doe with my 30.06. That was really neat! This year I am not going to rifle hunt, just try my bow out. It will be the first year I have hunted with my bow so we will see how that goes… I just have to find somewhere to hunt! My son gets to hunt for the first time this year and the property we hunt on just doesn’t have enough room so I am giving my spot for him. Not sure how I feel about him carrying a gun even though he will be with his father.

Good luck to everyone this hunting season!

I dont have a picture of my buck on this computer. He was relatively young for his size, a 4 x 4 Muley.

We cant bait here at all, but we do a lot of our hunting from the pickup. Well, we dont shoot from the truck, but we have to do a lot of scouting. They have acres to roam over, most of which is private. It is hit-or-miss whose land they will be on, on any given day. We do scouting from the truck, and then stalking in foot.

I would also love the canning recipes for sloppy joe meat. Yummy!!!

I dont hunt but my dad and older son and uncle do. I wanted to this year because there wasnt much meat last year but I never found a rifle I could afford. Good Luck everyone.

I dont think thats strange at all, Genius! I once had my cousin come back to the house exhausted he couldnt drag it any further I said hey, why not go down stairs and the the sled (the kind the kids use in the snow) it was muddy so it worked like a charm.
