My ducklings came from Ideal. Two Runners, two East Indies and one Khaki Campbell was what I ordered and what I thought had arrived. The more the feathers came in though it was clear the Khaki Campbell was not a Khaki Campbell lol.

The only thing I can find that remotely resembles it is a Black Swedish. Ideal carries Blue Swedish, but this one doesn't look like a Blue Swedish at all. Feet and bill are a dark brown/black.

Anyone else have a guess?

Is it typical of Ideal to flub orders like that? One of my kids was planning to use the KC as a 4H project and now I have no idea what we have, much less if it's something we can use.

That's a real eggcellent find! I have been looking for one of those. Just make sure it doesn't have an eggsetential crises, cuz then it won't lay its eggs which are truly delicious when cooked with mashed potatoes and gravy.

That nails it down for me duckchick. I'm 99% sure she is a she because she quacks - loudly! I ordered all females so at least they got that part right lol

Am I reading right that only blue Swedish are APA recognized? I have no interest in breeding and she's got a lifelong home here regardless.

She is a Black Swedish. And yes only Blues have been standardized. As for Ideal not having Blacks, if you go onto their website and click onto the blues Swedish you can see that it gives information about the genes. All blue poultry when mated to another blue produce 1/2 blue, 1/4 black and a 1/4 splash. Hope this helps! www.idealpoultry.com

I would call Ideal because they might send you another chick or give you a refund :)

Even if you'll keep her, they should at least know there was a mistake so they can have that for their records/fix it next time
