Hello, I have never raised ducks before but had a free runner thrown in with some quail chicks we picked up tonight. It appears to have a deformed leg. Could this fix itself? Anything I can do to help? Does this lessen his survival chance?

Thank you in advance !

The curled up toes you MIGHT be able to work on...you can cut out a (duck shaped) foot from cardboard, gently spread the toes out on top of that form, and use bandaid (sticky part only) across the top of the foot to hold this "shoe" securely in place. Leave it on for several days and see if it helps. Not sure about the leg...is it messed up too?

thanks, this picture makes it look worse than it is, the leg itself appear normal besides the curled in toes. he stands up and walks one foot normal the other like a peg leg. Ill try working on it, or else we will cull, just was hoping to avoid it if possible!

when you make the cardboard shoe keep duckling in a smaller are to keep him from being trampled and also to keep him from walking this shoe off, usually only takes a couple days of the shoe for it to work itself out.
