Hi all! I posted a thread here a while ago about my Brahma being a rooster. Well now I’m curious as to whether my Delaware is also a rooster, even though she was supposed to be a pullet when I purchased her. The noise in the video is the Delaware. What do you guys think?

Thanks! The noises sounded a little off so I was very curious. Lol
I agree that's a pullet. They can make a lot of that squawking, awk awk sound... it can actually be one of the ways I know a lady is getting ready to lay an egg. They (not all of course) tend to become chatty right BEFORE they go in. According to the comb color on your ladies' head... she IS getting close. :ya

You don't state her age.. I'm guessing not less than 16 weeks. By that age males and females sport very different saddle feathers in MOST breeds (not Seabrights and maybe a couple others)..

All my pullets are 24 weeks old. My brahma rooster is 22 weeks old. I noticed lately the brahma has been mating (or atleast trying lol) so I'm curious as to whether or not I'll get eggs soon!

Mating can happen way early. But after genetics, daylight is the key to producing the laying hormone. With daylight increasing and your stated age... You can bet it will be within the next couple weeks... make sure ya got some fake eggs (or something) in the boxes to show the ladies where is a safe place that "others" have also chosen to lay. :thumbsup

The chattiness is a great indicator, in the birds who do it. :love
