Is it in with any other roosters? It could be afraid to crow because of them. From what I've heard, red leakage on the wings normally means male. Is that correct?Can I ask what makes you think cockerel? I thought for sure it was a pulletNo crowing as of yet
Yeah it does. We have a beautiful lavender barred EE rooster with muffs, beard, and peacomb and you can see red in between the barring on his wings. Same with our other EE roo who looks very similar to this one, except he is smaller and he has muffs and a beard. He also has more grey splotches and red spots on his chest and wings.
The chicken in your profile picture kind of looks like Thin Mint (the chicken in my avatar) minus the crossbeak and peacomb. They are gorgeous!
Thank you! I hatched her, her name's Holly, this spring under a broody hen. She's half blue Ameraucana and half EE. In fact, she just laid her first egg yesterday!
Aww shes adorable. I love her muffs and beard! I'm a sucker for fluffy chickens, especially when they have muffs, beard, and fluffy legs. We got 7 chicks from Meyers hatchery and their all little fluffballs! We got them to be buddies for the lone chick (Her name is Toast) who hatched underneath our broody turkey (Our turkey is too big to properly raise the chick). Thin Mint was also hatched under a broody hen last year. She's going to be 2 soon! Her mother is a black copper maran (she has the copper on her neck and everything) and her dad is a cochin silkie mix named Noodle/Daddy Noodle. Thin Mints 3 brothers are exact clones of Daddy Noodle
and somehow Thin Mints sister Biscotti is a LF lavender colored cochin mix. I also love the silver on Holly's neck feathers. She is so pretty! Barnyard mixes always end up being so cool looking because of the different breeds of chickens.

I agree with the huge legs and shape. my brahma is around the same age and also hasn't crowed yet. although i did have a male coloured lemon brahma that turned out to be a hen.
Thank you very much I got her from a farm she was a free ranger wasn’t sure what she/ he was but thought it was beautiful so I picked it up not exactly sure of the age I thought about 3 to 4 months and I don’t know what he is mixed with because he does not have feathers on his legs at all they are long and Linky and fat
