Delaware x Barred Rock Chicks--Indy, Rex and Ira's Progress Thread

JEFF! I have a question for you. Any chance at all that a pullet could have barring and a head spot out of this cross? The two 3 week old chicks with Dottie are so different. The one with brighter, more precise barring has a pink large comb already. The dark one has a long tail like the pullet below and the comb is tiny and still completely yellow. If it was a pure BR, I'd peg it as a pullet at this point, but the difference when I thought it was completely sex linked is throwing me off. Could be it will mature much later, I guess, but except for the head spot and ghosty barring, it looks like Raven, pictured below, in body type and the longer tail.

Adding pictures of the black pullet, Raven, who lives with her broody mama in the bantam coop. She has a leaner body, longer tail, than the males.

I wouldn't think so, it should be a male if it is from the same crossing if it is from one of the BBS Rocks it could be a little girly from that mix, I just can't say other "than time will tell" LOL

Jeff, here is the oldest male, Indy, at 8 weeks of age. How about this guy, eh?? Hope their temperament stays like their dear old Dad's because I plan to keep these two as my two replacement leaders in the main flock, with possible addition of even younger brother, Ira.

And his brother, Rex, at about 6 weeks old. Obvious difference in the barring and the size of the two males.

Boy that Indy is looking alright there huh I think he will be a good flockmaster someday, will probly fill his daddys shoes just good.

That other one is "darn neart" blue it is funny how one is so different from the other, that's genetics for ya though.

Rex is perfect......my little striped love bug. He must not be getting nomnoms properly and it is affecting his growth. Cyn do it right and do it more often. He he he

Indy looks spectacular for sure. Raven is so cute and dainty looking.

Well, to love on that little goober, you have to catch him first. He is in perpetual motion, lol. They are both super sweet kids, as are all BRs and Delawares at this age. I just cannot get over Indy's precise barring. Mama Ida's genetics sure won out on that one.

Tried getting photos of the two youngest. Since they are going on 4 weeks old now, I'm convinced that one of them is a pullet, most likely out of one of the BBS Rocks getting barring from dear old dad. If Scott got a blue barred hen out of a Delaware x Blue Rock, then I can certainly get a black barred pullet out of the same cross, blue being genetically black. Just means that once again, I was wrong about whose egg it was, lol.
First the obvious cockerel, then the 2nd pic shows the one I believe is a pullet. Interesting leg color difference, too.

Adding pics of Rex and Indy from today with their Belgian d'anver buddies, the local street gang, lol.
