Fern is quite a character! She's sweet, though, and a good layer.

Yup... it looks like the next one in line is Ferns last one I got. Boy, she really puts out some good chicks. That first one has already won me over!

Got two more pips from the Dels, but they need to come on already!! Geez.

Cyn, here is the first Fern baby from the back... how can you tell the sex?

and here is Fern's second baby... it looks different. more grey.

So which one is which?

First one is a pullet, second a cockerel, going by the BR sexing rules.

Hope you are right about it! That first one has got a ton of personality already showing!! I'm seriously crazy about that one! lol. Very curious. Comes in your direction when you come in the room... I put the waterer down in there after just putting them in the brooder... and that little thing came right on up to check it out! nosey! love it.

That is why I love BRs so much! They are intelligent, curious, friendly and fabulous layers.

And the incubator has 5 stumbling around. Few more pips, but not much else happening right now.
