DELAWARES, Barred Rock *** PIPS AND ZIPS ***

Well, just wanted to let everyone know that the last Delaware is getting around just fine now. Everyone seems to be up and about... looking healthy (even the two little ones)... eatting and drinking. After my last two hatches with crippled legs I'm very happy to report that everyone has healthy legs and feet!

I can't tell you how stressfull it is to have such a high percentage of bad legs in a hatch. Really depressing.

My mother just left... she wanted to come see the chicks. She said that they were very cute and wanted to hold them... that's when one of the BR's pooped in her hand. lol Needless to say, she handed it over to me and didn't want to pick anymore up. lol. I think she is starting to get the "second hand chicken bug". She always said, "That's your thing, Sis (she calls me Sis). I just don't get what is so great about a chicken." But now she is all, "How are the chickens?" and, "I want to see the chicks!". Yeah, she will be comming around. She lives in the city limits, though. I tried to tell her she needs a few hens. She is almost there. She even talks about my chickens to people at her work. She will report back to me with, "So and so has some chickens. I told her you have Delawares and they didn't know what they were. So I told them and they said they want some." lol. What do you think? She's got it, huh?

Pictures comming in a few!

Yeah, I really love that last picture. I don't even look... I just point the camera at them and snap! Luckily, my camera makes a "beep, beep" noise if I barely push the button... this gets the chicks attention and makes for better photos!
