Delawares from kathyinmo

Wow, look at that bowl shape!

To be fair, they can stretch out their necks and look more skinny. But this one is looking very round from all directions -- I have several photos in a row of this one chick walking around and in each photo it looks bowl shaped. Which might make it slower, which might be why I can photograph it?

It might have been hanging out near me mooching for more food?

Wow - that girl looks like she has been blown up with a air line. mighty nice looking IMHO

I got my camera out today and took a few photos of Delawares. Wasn't trying to get a photo of "each" bird so there may be repeats of birds in here. I have noticed at least one pullet has more green tinted legs than yellow. I'm sure that's be discussed.

I assume we need to wait until after the juv. molt to decide on coloration? Because a lot of my young cockerels have way too much black where it shouldn't be and I am getting antsy to cull...

More Delaware chicks are hatching today. :D

The broody for the first group (7 weeks old now, if I'm remembering right) decided it was time to head back to the General Population coop yesterday. That should simplify things a bit.

Wow, still going, good for you! My last hatch was 6 chicks three weeks ago. Being raised by a surrogate Mom, hatchery SS. Enjoying the good life :)
Tee hee. Road kill. ;) I had 8 hatch three weeks ago ... one I called Hopper because it had an injured foot -- all better now! ... then a break until today ... not sure how many today. Then we have chicks due to hatch next week, too. That's it until I start a few more broodies. I seem to have plenty of broodies at the moment, so I figure I can just keep chugging along. The Delaware hens are laying well right now, but I also have extra eggs in the Delaware coop, from the foster broodies, so I suppose I could get a few DelaMutts. I'm relatively sure I can tell which eggs are which ... :/ I have a hatchery SS foster mom, too. They are sweet hens. Next up on the broody list is a particularly nasty Cuckoo Marans (hatchery) hen we are eager to get out of the nest boxes, she is a ferocious pecker!, and a very sweet Jersey Giant (also hatchery).
