Delawares from kathyinmo

I'm going to assume that Finnfurr is Tom. Correct any errors and please don't be shy about it. I see that you have a fine run of Delawares. Were their progenitors those belonging to "KathyMo"? If not where did yours originate? Would it be possible for me to send you a check which you would cash first and then send, in a protective assemblage, a dozen of your fertile Delaware eggs? Please mail me particulars. For example should such a venture have insurance coverage? If not feasible let me know. In any case, please advise. Oh, almost forgot… Thank you for your attention and by all means stay well no matter who she turns out to be!
Most sincerely,
Neal, the Zooman

I think the tails on your birds look way more organized than the tails on my birds. And my birds' tails seem droopy now. Even the older hens' tails aren't up where they used to be this spring (like the SOP photo shows they should be). I think my birds were happier when there was green stuff around. It's all dried up dead stuff on the farm right now. Depressing.
Leslie the older did look like that but feathers get beat up ranging = tails have some parts missing etc - I almost think they have started a molt because feathers everyplace and egg production has dropped to low level.
The pullets just started getting some tail display - it was just kind of rounded out two weeks ago.

Neal -Good assumption since my signature says "Tom" LOL
1. I still think its a little warm to be shipping eggs
2. If you wait on my hens it might be a while - Only have 5 F4 hens and I have gotten one Del egg a day for the last 3 days -
I believe they have formed a union and are on strike - haven't figured out whats going on yet - part of the problem is I think we now have two broody Dels instead of one - I am going to remove all the wooden eggs from the nests tomorrow - If the are going to sit on eggs they are going to need to lay them first .

Yes our breeders are two Cocks and five hens from Kathyinmo recreated line
Aren't you out the west coast way - several have this line out there

HAHA. Actually I was going to ask if I could be put on somebodies waiting list for chicks. Around 20-25. I just moved from SC to TN. Had to sell all my chicks and chickens to move.

I had Paul Harters Delawares. The really only problem I found with them was all the yellow. Anyways, building new flocks again. Ordered 20 Buff Brahmas from a breeder in Wisconsin. Found a trio of Heritage Reds here Underwood line. Found my New Zealand Red rabbits. Now looking for good Barred Rocks and Delawares!!

If anybody can help just PM me. Thanks!!

I quoted the wrong post, but you guys are all smart enough to figure out what I meant.

I'm in Oregon a few miles north of Zanna ... I got my trio from her ... three of the batch she got from Kathy.

Our farm is so dry this summer part of it caught on fire during an electric storm one night. Just a wheat field, but the one right uphill from the coops. The poultry pasture we planted after our winter harvest barely had a chance to sprout before it stopped raining for the summer.
:p
There are so many white feathers in the Delaware coop I could make a feather topper for my bed. :p

Sorry to hear you had to sell but a friend just moved to TN and says its a great place so good luck.

We get some yellowing on some more than others but I have noticed its not until they are out in the sun for a few months. Some seem to be more prone to the yellowing than others.
All the F4s and F5s have been nice and white until started free ranging.
There will possibly be more of this line available when the F5s start producing. Stock seems to be limited now.

That's what seemed to be the problem with mine. I figured it probably had something to do with the high temps and the sun. Seemed like the roosters turned more than the hens for some reason. Well just keep me in mind when anybody has any chicks please. Loved my Dellies. Sweet birds. Noticed mine kept laying even with 93 plus degrees outside where the heritage reds would slow down.

Why I think its sun related is the #2 cock that was outside had to be separated and I put him in covered barn porch area with no sun but indirect light and when I put him back out he had whitened up but not completely - he has been back out again and has re-yellowed some.
Don't know if thats it but its a observation. All don't do this as much so there are probably some genetics involved also.
