Delawares from kathyinmo

Next round of eggs I will individually number and compare. I have 2 clutches going right now that Ill just weigh the chicks from 1 week on to measure growth rate. (one of the things to breed utility for)

Anyone have a growth weight chart for Delaware chicks.

I weighed my 1 week old yesterday she was 40 grams. She is in with some buff orps that are 3-5 days older and they ranged from 50g to 68g

Ill weigh again on Wed. but it would be nice to have some comparisons.
I've never heard mention weight charts for eggs, chicks etc. etc. I'm not even sure I know how it's done. It is interesting.

Ok I have a mea culpa Ive been spelling Neal's name wrong. Please take note it is Neal, the Zooman not whatever I may have typed

He is still my friend though.

My first hatch of any numbers finished up last night. Already had 8 PapaDel x 3 original F'4 Hens from Kathy on the ground. Latest hatch, 6 PapaDel x Hens, and 9 PapaDel x 4 F'5 Pullets from last years breedings. Next weekends hatch is a little larger............. My apartment is humming and peeping :)

My computer is in the shop so using Hubby's ultrabook, can't post cute chick pics at the moment.

That's good news!!!

I have my own weight records but don't have the time to look them up this week. If you read this thread, I probably posted them previously. I know Tom had posted about his weights, way back.

I think mine were at 13 weeks - would need to look at the record. I might have weighed at wing tag also but not sure.
Don't have any progressive regular interval weights .

OK looked up weights and it was at 5 week wing tag installation.
Red tag line [ this was my older line of Dels breeder not hatchery but not Kathys ] Avg weight was 9.29oz
Blue tag line Kathy F4s- Avg weight was 11.57oz [ this is 24% heavier than the previous line]
I must not have recorded the 5 week weights of the F5s - or I can't find

I had a five pack of eggs on lockup for twenty one days- cracked two open today and neither were fertile
Them Cadbury eggs are never fertile but they sure are tasty- going to check the other three later this week .
hope to get same results.
Hope all had a great easter.
