Delawares from kathyinmo

Here are my cockerels. Sorry for the poor photos, they do not like posing. They changed so much. I'm having the hardest time choosing which to keep, so I'll probably keep most to see how they mature. I think I'll cull B13, though.

Kim- I dont know - like mine the Black tail seems to come with the Columbian hackles LOL

What were the weights - maybe that would help narrow

Kinda like 16 type wise but pics just hard to judge

Finally got some pics of my 2 Dels from Kathy..please forgive the blur and distance from the bird, these birds are really wild and I can't get close to them except at the feed trough or on the roost at night, so getting quality pics is nigh impossible. In some of the pics you'll see the WRs she sent to me as well...they all have dirty faces from where they forage, so not clean pics.

These four birds from Kathy live almost entirely on what they forage...I doubt they get a few mouthfuls of grain feeds here and there now. That's why all the pics show them moving and foraging because they are all over the property on a constant search for food...and man are they healthy! I've got the whole flock of 14 birds down to 1.5 cups of feed per day, so these youngsters probably don't get much of it at all, if any.

# 1 Choice Delaware at 4 mo. of age. She is my favorite. She had a greenish tinge to the legs but that has went away. She has better markings, a wider tent and better set to her tail, is more calm and I like her back and chest better than Del #2. She is shown getting fed by her WR foster mama....still...

She didn't start to foster these chicks until they were about 2.5 mo. but she had just been broody on a bad clutch and was desperate to mother someone.

Below is #2 Delaware at 4 mo. She has a different tail set and a less smooth, developed front line and I think her coloring on the tail is a little borderline.

Here are some pics of both and then all four of the excellent birds Kathy gave me...can't be more tickled to have those WRs also. They are simply dreamy and will be wonderful birds at maturity. Both have nice, wide tents on their tails, superior feather quality and I just love them!

These gals have some really dirty faces! They'd been foraging in the dewy grass and then dusted...I want so bad to clean up their faces because the rest of them is so white.

Bee.. I know nothing about Del really but I think girl #1 - WOW. Love those lines.

I don't know much about the breed either, but if you can imagine this~these two were the smallest of the all the pullet chicks.

What if I had kept the largest? They were all the same size of the cockerels and they were pretty big birds. Can't imagine what they look like now but I'm sure there are some folks out there simply stunned at these big beauties strolling around their coops.

You would be at 2 cups of feed a day LOL
Nice looking like your choice of #1 but 2 not bad either.
If those are your white rocks I didn't get one by mistake because all pullet of mine have the Delaware coloration.
So Kathys WR mistake she sent was a mistake in installing the orange leg ring LOL does that make sense ?

Yeah..it does.

She was passing out a lot of chicks at that time, so I could see where it could happen...was that chick a little chunkier than the rest of them? These WRs were and you could spot them as soon as you opened the box..they kind of stood out. When they are fully mature they will be a little heavier and larger than the Dels. One, in particular, has massive feet already so she will be one big gal. All my WRs have feet and legs twice the size of the other bird's and weigh a good 2-3 lbs heavier, if not more.
