Hatching is going well here in California!

Next hatch is coming up soon.

Man ! I wish I had a professional hatcher out here to do mine LOL Just kidding Ron. Glad to see things going well there.
The weather here is finally improving and the eggs seem to be picking up . Hopefully it holds that direction.
I keep reminding myself "Its just chickens" LOL

Started with 24 eggs. After day 7 throw out 1 for being clear. Should start hatching tomorrow.

I have four F'5 eggs due for lockdown the 16th. Set 5 and one was infertile. The 3 pullets I have in the pens are giving me about 12 eggs a week between them and I will be setting them all weekly at least through April. Last year I hatched non stop through November. Wanting an easier summer this year!

If they still feather/develop as slowly as the F'4's did, I will also try a fall hatching, maybe end of Sept. and see if the colder weather helps them to get with it a little faster. May also put a few of my New Hampshires hens in with one of the Cocks and play with that to work on some faster development.

Allow me to jump in ? I just finished a hatch and every Del egg hatched. I always use Dels as my control group in a hatch. If they don't hatch then I know there is a problem.

I have found my Delaware line has the best hatch rate out of all of my other chickens. (I don't have Kathy's line yet but I'm hoping one of you will take pity on me and allow me to purchase some hatching eggs/chicks!! )

yikes!! Be careful what you wish for. I have just put my Del hens and roo in a separate run. No eggs yet. And yes I HAVE A BROODY the same evening.

Now to wait for del eggs. None the day of the move

. . Broody=need for eggs. What don't the hens understand about that.

I'm about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Niceville! I actually travel through there some for work. Is that where you live?

Edit: Actually I see now that you live in NY... do you vacation there or have family in Niceville?
