Delayed Eggs

Hi, i'm not sure what to do with the crossed legged one, but whenever we get a splayed legged chick, we use rope and sticky tape to hold them inwards, make sure it is not to tight, and replace when it does, and after normally 3-6 days their legs grow straight, and they can walk on their own easily, but occasionally we have one that only takes 1 day! Good luck with all your little peepers and make sure to send a pic of the lot!

WVduckchick, I am going to have to agree with you on the lavenders being just a little slower on hatching. I think I would be a little nervous at this point if it were not for your previous comment on them being slower to hatch. I am about 9 hours into day 20 and nothing, not a moved egg, no sounds, nothing! My experience with buff orpingtons would tell me I should at least see some eggs moving around maybe even some sounds at this point. Maybe it is a breed thing. I have to lean that way as I am pretty confident in my temperature and humidty during the incubation. I know I had movement in the eggs on 18. Oh well still have my fingers crossed for a good hatch, just the suspense is killing me. I started 15 Seramas and 15 Buff Orpingtons yesterday, going to be a busy month!

What do I do with crossed legs? This is a dorking female..my only one from mail ordered eggs

I'd probably give it a day or two, see how it goes on its own. Or if its very bad, band it like splay leg.

Awesome! Good luck!

I have 15 seramas on day 9 now, from my flock. And just set 20 more seramas this morning, shipped to me from California. Also have 8 cochins from my flock in the day-9 incubator, plus 3 chocolate orpingtons. lol!

And my lav orps are finally laying, so as soon as I get enough to set, I'll do some of them!

First pic is is the chick hospital lol! Second are my 14 healthy chicks. I have 4 late hatchers. 2 assisted. 1 Chick is outta the hospital and with the others but it was always able to stand just weak. 1 other died this morning but his butt was always wet so I think he dehydrated there was more going on with that one. I have 2 in doughnuts with legs vet tapped. Both cannot stand without help but I think I have their legs propped se they can sit upright correctly...we will see. I was hand feeding them yogurt because it was what I had on hand.

Mine were days 21, 22 and 23. I have a few on day 23 but 3 survived and 3 did not due to leg issues.
