I agree. I think that any 2 TRUE Ameraucana bred together will produce TRUE Ameraucana but, if the chicks are a non APA or ABA recognized color then they should be sold as EE's even though technically they are Ameraucana. Does that make sense?

LOL I was wondering about that myself. I have a friend who has marans. She has black, cuckoo, blue, splash, copper, brichon, and wheaten. I have one of her blue X cuckoo. I was positive that is would still be a marans....just not a specific color. I am wondering how that works.

See, that veers into a whole different breed issue of conformity. With the Marans it is not only the standard of the variety, ie cuckoo, splash, copper, and who you are using as a guideline (french or UK) but then you get into the egg color issue...no quality Marans lays an egg less than a 4 on the color scale, so It's said they shouldnt be held up as a Marans any more if they dont lay at least a 4, no matter how pure they are! Marans are not yet recognized by the APA but they are on their way, and so on...
When you mix a Marans, it becomes a "Sport", much like when you mix an Ameraucana, you get an Easter Egger.
So much to know....so little time to know it.....chickens are so complicated~I would never have thunk it!

Well I got some birds, started out as Ameraucanas from Ideal, but now I'm not sure if I have Ameraucanas, EE's, mutts, or Araucanas.

From Ideal and other major hatcheries they are EEs...But they do have some very pretty ones. I think the EEs are much prettier that regular Ams because they are so colorful and you never know what colors you'll get.

Anyway to get back on topic, I'd buy some eggs off you Bargain but can't right now. Spent my limit til I get paid next week.

All hatcheries sell easter eggers.

The original poster has easter eggers. They are not mixed colored ameraucanas as you can tell by the quality of the comb and the appearance of wattles on the rooster which indicates they are mixed breed birds.

Then I understand people have developed additional colores ie lavender ameuracanas yet this is not yet an accepted color, yet neither was silver, I also have heard of gold. Would these then also be considered EE even though they have been specifically bred to conform in all other ways.

Silver is a recognized color of ameraucana. There is no gold being worked on that I know of.

There are breeders working on black gold, mottled and lavender. And, technically they would be considered easter eggers until they are an approved standard color.

But, they are being bred to a standard, the breeders are not throwing birds in willy nilly which is done with your standard easter egger.

Also when you purchase eggs or birds of this type from a breeder you will most definately be informed that they are not a standard bird.

I would think if you were breeding for specific pattern or colour and it breed true 50% of the time it would be considered a Ameraucana.
