I had 3 ducks now all I have is my female white pekan she’s so sweet my 2 boys were so smart funny and so much character last night my second boy was murdered in his own home ! And tonight we finally saw the predator that has been killing my babies ! An ugly
GIANT OWL ! I screamed when I saw him so I scared him off but now we’ve got the gun loaded so he won’t be flying away next time ! RIP SHOOTER & DONUT

It is illegal to kill an owl. Hope you don't have any nosey neighbors

I'm so sorry for your loss! We have lots of Hawks and owls here. I have experienced a couple of losses but I try not to blame them. They're just doing what nature intended. When I see one stalking I just won't free range my flock for a few days and they lose interest and look for prey elsewhere. Good luck!

As Mtnboomer has already said, killing an owl is against the law. Do not be bragging about it.
Lost my goose to a great horned owl several years ago. It stuck around until the bald eagles came back.

Where are the ducks sleeping at night? You may find the remaining birds are easier to protect than having to shoot owl.

No need to shoot the owl. Close up your birds in a secure coop/house since owls hunt when birds are going to roost anyway. Of course, there’s also the Federal law banning the killing of owls and raptors.

On this, try to set aside emotion. If you question the ability of your pen to exclude owl, then leave last carcass out where owl can find it. Owl will focus on the carcass before making another kill. During that time work on pen to make it owl tight.

I have messed with these owls a lot. They can be persists but they can be beat. Killing an individual will be easy but as some point not far down road another owl will come in to do the same. Exclude them all.
