This is why I don't go to shelters or rescues. They seem to be too picky! I've been lucky enough to have our dogs and cats just show up at our property and they're the best animals ever!
I wanted to adopt a rabbit from a rescue that we sell hay to and she wouldn't approve us because we wanted to keep the rabbit outside in a hutch. The barn she had them in wasn't even heated. Figure that one out. I tend to think that rescuers are just hoarders sometimes and then they cry wolf about not having homes for the animals. Sorry, just my personal experience with a few of the people we sell to.
We had a dog show up here last summer and I found a rescue who would take him but once they found out it wasn't my dog they said "no." I asked why? They told me because the legal owner had to turn him over. Well, I found the legal owner and he said that he didn't want him anymore so he let him go. It was a guy working on a house on the property next door. He said that the dog didn't seem happy with him so he figured he'd just let him go. He only had him 5 months, had him microchipped, got him from the pound and thats how I found the owner. So needless to say the rescuers that I thought would help, wouldn't do a thing for this animal. I ended up having the owner sign a release form and sign the dog over to another girl who wanted the dog.
Ask family members or friends if they know of anyone who has a dog who needs a good home.
