Ok so I have a female pekin duck and I know that they’re not known for going broody but she definitely has. She sits on her eggs all day and gets pissed off if you try and come near them or her. She even put a toy cat ball in her nest like an egg. (I added a pic of that Bc it’s honestly kind of funny) I don’t know what to do because I’ve had her since she was a baby and she’s always been imprinted to me and followed me around and been very sweet, but now she’s aggressive and loud and I hate it. There’s no way the eggs are fertilized, either, which is the worst part. She’s just gonna sit on these eggs until they rot and they’ll never hatch. What do I do to make her stop treating me like im trying to murder her non existent ducklings? How do I make her go back to her old self, or is this just a seasonal thing as it’s spring time?

Please take all those eggs away, why let her sit on unfertilized eggs for 28 days and nothing happen. Break up the nest put down fresh bedding too. What your seeing is very natural with a broody they are very protective of their nest ,eggs and ducklings. She'll get over it soon after you take the eggs away. [Take them away when she goes outside to eat or bathe] and slip in where she can't see you.

Thank you, I didn’t know if taking them away would make it worse or better.

If you wanted you try to put some baby ducklings under her then maybe she would be her normal self hopes this helps
