Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Hiya Fud Lady and fellow Derpites!

After reading the lovely story about Moa's obsession with keel-scritching, I've decided to try it on my newest batch of Maran's chicks. One in particular, Booberry (she's a blue), is my absolute favorite, and I dearly want her to like interacting with me. I sat her on my lap yesterday, and gave it a go.

Wouldn't you know it, she LOOOVES keel-scritches! The little tyke plopped down and slept on me afterwards!

I know I am kind of sad but as I have no room for favs I found I could have a "virtual" one on a Facebook farming game!! Maybe one day I'll have space for the real thing....

Hopefully my new Australorps(!!) won't turn out to be an "Evil Queen Lorp"... no offense Nambroth.

None taken! I actually got Lorp because I have read that Australorps are friendly birds with each other and humans alike. I bet that yours will be wonderful and you will have a variety of personalities! I think I just happened to get one with an evil chromosome...

She has the peepers back on, by the way. After Trousers passed away, she decided that it was Anarchy, and promptly tore out most of poor Willow's body feathers, and plucked Derp's rear end. So on the pinless peepers went again. I told her I'd give her away but I can't now, so she had best start behaving!

My Australorp, Matilda, is one of the most standoffish birds that I have in the flock. She is also one of the very finest shriekers and will yell to let you know that she is thinking about laying an egg, still thinking about laying an egg, and finally laying an egg. Then the non-stop shrieking starts because she can't see the rest of the flock that is off browsing somewhere beyond eyesight.

Darn... I got them for being called "Stealth Chickens".. that's also why I named one Ninja.

She sounds like my BO Gabby, named for her constant yelling about laying that egg! My Tick, the BA is the most curious of the flock, but don't try to pet her! She gets very offended-

Meanwhile, Mary will soon have some fav chums coming, eggs get shipped this week from Cloverleaf!

Country George, I like Matilda already. She speaks her mind. I used to raise dogs and the easy going , quiet ones were very nice but, albeit a little boring. The eccentric ones, the squeaky wheels, were the ones I could never forget.
