Poor Coho, but look at the positive you have Nambroth with your care have gotten her to her second winter and in chicken years that is middle age. Alot chickens don't even live that long, so all you can do is cherish every day with her. She is the most cuddly chicken, and you have learned that Favorelles from hatchery have a lot of health issues. Instead you have a reliable breeder of cochins you can buy from who are healthy and you can subsitute future cochins for favorelles . Also if she has other breeds and good lines you might be able to find a breed other bantam breed that are just as cuddly as favorelles and cochins to give your flock a little more variety.

I am also glad that Millie and Baron have been intergrated into the flock and that their are no issues that way. And as for parrots laughing at hens. I dont know if you have seen this video Nambroth, but I thought it was quite quite cute. It's off a blue front amazon parrot laughing every time he hears a frizzled hen cluck. I was wondering Nambroth if any of your parrots or cockatiels like to interact with the chickens or vice versa ? Or do they mostl
y just ignore each other ?

Haha, gosh that is a riot!

In the video of Coho, the parrot is actually Das, the cockatiel. He is madly in love with me, and that was his idea of singing me a serenade!! The parrots, all five of them, seem to regard the chickens with as much interest as a piece of furniture. Funny that they don't seem to care about them!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the video Nambroth. Didn't find much interaction between chickens and parrots. Just that one, and of some baby chicks beating up a parrot, but that wasn't funny. Though it seems alot of parrots like to eat chicken wing and eat chicken bones to get at the marrow. I do wonder if the parrots are smart enough to realize they are eating something off another bird.

To be fair, chickens like to eat chicken, too!

A parrot eating poultry is like a human eating beef.
Both are birds, but not closely related.
Humans and cows are both mammals, but not closely related.

True, but I was just wondering if parrots have congitive intelligence to actually understand they are eating another bird or meat, instead of just some tasty yummy seed or fruit.
