Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

They were good xrays. We could see his tendons pretty clearly.
The vet was unable to get back to me today, I should hear from her tomorrow. :) In any case, it really does seem as if he has an injury but is not in pain, and it does not seem like Marek's! This is all good news. I am very patient if he needs time to heal. He is such a sweet and good boy!!
its because of your wonderful Trousers and now the Baron that i went out on a limb and ave rescued cochin boy- given to me by a friend who got him at auction with badly frostbitten feet, he is slowly recovering, but that cochin personality is stealing my heart!

Your are right, your boy will heal in time, and its not Mereks.. give him lots of hugs!

Well, as of this morning the Baron is down. He can't stand properly on both legs and is just having the worst time controlling his legs at all. At this point, we must assume it's Marek's....
I think the universe heard me getting hopeful yesterday and had to squash me today. :(

I'll update if anything changes or if I learn more...

That is just the worst news ever.

I know that you will do your absolute best for him, as you do for all your animals, but I can't bear to think of you all having to go through this all over again.
All the most positive thoughts I can send are right now winging their way across the water to you

I know you will keep us posted as much as you are able to.

Anything is possible... but one must not ignore the simplest answer that fits-- this looks like Marek's, and I have known Marek's in my flock.

We are not giving up, but we are being realistic. Setting ourselves up with too much hope will only make heartbreak that much worse if things go downhill...

I have a vet appointment for Ruffles on Friday afternoon. Depending on how he is doing at that time, the vet will draw blood and see if he has increased lymphocytes. This can indicate that he has active lymphomas, in which case there is no real hope.
If he does not have any indicator of lymphomas, there is a chance he may recover, though I don't know if he will walk again or not. I am unclear on what happens if the vaccine is effective enough to stop lymphomas, but not enough to stop the paralysis associated with nerve lesions? My vet is very forward thinking and she will help us if she can.

As for Baron himself, he is much unchanged, though he ate a huge dinner. I don't think he feels sick at all, his legs just aren't working!
