Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

I'm sorry but I had to laugh about Derp fighting while taking the medicene. That's how she has survived this long she's a fighter and strong willed. Bless your heart Derp but you still have to take your medicene whether you like it or not. Maybe next time you can get cherry flavored medicene. Thanks so much for taking such great care of her.

Yes, we accept responsibility for our birds, but that doesn't mean that other people who like them can't help out with their care. You entertain us so much with your stories of Derp and co, and you help so many people on BYC with your advice and information (not just the Great Big Giant Marek's FAQ , but that's one great example) - I am sure that many Derp fans would want to help with her care.

I have to say that I love my ATC's from when you were raising funds for Bubble's treatment - any chance of some more? I would certainly sign up again! (Although I appreciate that you may not have too much time at the moment to accept individual commissions, with all your Duck Stamp commitments).

For any who don't already know and appreciate Nambroth's work, here is an example which I am extremely proud to hang on my wall:

I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to paint more chickens...! I regret that I am currently super backlogged though, and with galleries breathing down my neck (figuratively). Part of this Duck Stamp thing is painting Remarques. Those are tiny, original paintings in the margin of select prints. They need to be as perfect as I can make them and I have to do a lot of them! Once I have time again, I hope...

Don't be sorry! Laughing is great. She really fought me tonight but I discovered an easier way to get her medicated, so the struggle was not so intense. She is very FEISTY!

Hai Fud Lady,

How is Derp doing today?

She is the same as she has been! No improvement, yet. With wry neck, though, it can take a long time to improve I understand. When she had it as a chick, it took weeks (though it was not near this severe). She is very cuddly though, and wants 'hugs' often!! She gets lonely if I go out of sight, and will shuffle around backward, looking for me. When she sees me again she will do the "chick tidbit" call, where a hen or rooster will "tutt-tutt-tutt" excitedly to get the other chickens to come near!

Derp has the sweetest little voice I've ever heard. I hope she gets better soon. That is sneaky of Derp to pretend that she has a tasty treat for you. I love you Derp you are the best.

I actually think it's just that she is SO excited! She makes the most excited noise she can.

Aw, Derperella has such sweet trills. She clearly is happy to get lots of attention. Aside from the frustration of getting around, she does not seem too bothered fortunately. I know wry neck can be slow to improve. I imagine it is not easy to have such an adorable distraction around. Hopefully she will get used to watching you work and just be happy you are nearby. Sending healing thoughts for Derp.
