Derp fans, thank you so much for caring! The folks interested in Derp has dwindled over the years, and I admit that I lost track of keeping up with this thread because of the silence.

Derp is doing well! We purchased a large pet "corral" for her to stay in when we can't be home with her. The good news is that this is easy to transport in and out during the day, so Derp can still spend the warmer months outside. I cover it with wrought iron mesh to keep any arial predators away, and she is close to the house. Anyone digging to get her couldn't get through in time before I was out there like a mother hen! She is in my sight as I work from my art desk, out the screened patio door.

She holds her head up more and more each day, but the progress is so very, very slow. Her resting position is still upside down and backward, and it may be like that forever. That said, she seems very content to be a solitary chicken, which makes sense as she hasn't bonded with any of the other birds since Coho passed away. Maybe she thinks that she is people? Or Chair? Or Grill? Who knows!

Thank you so much for the update on Derp. I could never lose interest in her I love her very much. I'm so happy she is improving and maybe someday she will be her normal Derp self. Give her a big hug from me and tell her she still has fans out there rooting for her and loving her.

Nambroth, Derp is in my thoughts EVERYTIME I see a grill or a white plastic lawn chair OR a QTIP!

Like running with scissors, running with a Q-tip is just plain derp-tastictikly FUNNY!

Is your life back to normal after all the hoopla of your Duck stamp SCORE? Can't believe its been a year since your major win!
